To journey one first enters into a trance state of consciousness. Among the many ways to enter this state are drumming, hypnosis, meditation, dance, chanting, dreaming. Additionally, the ceremonies used by many indigenous people – e.g. sweat lodge, vision quest, fire walk, plant medicine, can move one into trance.
Woven with ancient wisdom-keeper’s techniques of storytelling, “journeying”, guided imagery, sacred sounds, and conversing with the spirits heighten one’s state of consciousness; allowing one to easily move into the deep state of trance utilized in spirit journeying and other ceremonies.

All That Matters, the “largest non-residential holistic center in New England” has invited me to teach the National Guild of Hypnotist’ hypnosis certification training at their facility this spring. This program will present an overview of contemporary understanding of how hypnosis works and will trace its development through the past few centuries. The principal ideas of NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) will also be introduced and briefly examined. The actual four weekend training begins in April (see below). My annual excursion to the West Coast. I will be offering a free Singing Bowl Concert on Friday 3/5 at 9 p.m.; be part of a panel on Shamanism, on Sunday, 3/7 at 11 a.m., and be teaching a workshop “The Real Uncle Miltie” about Ericksonian hypnosis on Sunday, 3/7 at 2 p.m. ($25). In addition, I will be teaching a special post-conference workshop, “Hypno-Shamanism” on Monday 3/8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ($150).
